Joe Johnson Talks About Captain America

Joe Johnson is directing a little movie for Marvel about a guy named Captain America. Recently ComicBookMovie spoke to Joe Johnson about his experience directing Captain America: The First Avenger.  Johnson says:

I had a dream cast headed by Chris Evans. I had the best designers, artists, sculptors, craftspeople…a creative team that could design, build and photograph anything and have it look amazing and beautiful. We had unbelievable luck with the weather wherever we shot in England. The weather was so good we were compelled to make it rain for a couple of sequences just for some variety. CAPTAIN AMERICA was probably the most universally positive experience I’ve had in this mad business.

It’s great to hear that production went smoothly on Captain America. Marvel has had a bit of bad history with their writers and directors. It sounds like Captain America is going to be a fun and most importantly good film.  I can’t be the only one excited for this film right?

Scott Derrickson Directing Goliath

Scott Derrickson, director of The Exorcism of Emily Rose and the remake of The Day Earth Stood Still has signed on to direct the story of Goliath. Goliath will be a period film, telling the biblical story of David vs Goliath. While it will be set in Biblical times the filmmakers are going for a 300 and Bourne Identity vibe.

For those not familiar with the story of David vs Goliath, the massive Goliath is sent to find and eliminate the prophesied king of the Israelites, a young shepherd named David. A chase ensures, not just endangering David’s life but the lives of his family and people. There is an epic battle between David and Goliath, making this the ultimate underdog story.

I don’t want to sound pessimistic but I don’t have much hope for this film. I’m sure it will be in 3D.  Does anyone have any interest in seeing this film? And if you do, why?

Peter Farrelly Says Stooges Roles Are Wide Open

Yesterday we reported that Andy Samberg and Johnny Knoxville were close to signing on to star in the new 3 Stooges film.  Co-director Peter Farrelly speaking to EW has completely denied the rumor.  Peter Farrelly says:

You don’t want people to think ‘they already cast that thing,’ because we haven’t…It’s wide open to everybody.”

While speaking to EW Farrelly also talks about the story of the film and the rumor that it’s a bio pic of the original 3 Stooges:

It’s The Three Stooges just like the [old shorts],” Farrelly says. “They’re going to look the same, dress the same, sound the same, act the same, with the same sound effects.”

While I’m still not enthusiastic about a 3 Stooges film, I’m glad the rumor was not true.  Who do you want to see casted in this film?

Judd Apatow Talks About The Knocked Up Spin-Off

Yesterday we reported that for his next film Judd Apatow will be writing and directing a spin-off from Knocked Up featuring the characters played by Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann.

Apatow spoke with HitFix about the upcoming spin-off:

“It is just a story from Pete and Debbie’s current life. People really responded to their characters and problems.  I felt like there was a lot of ground I could explore with them.”

Apatow made sure to say that this film will not be a prequel or sequel.  This film will be a film all by itself.  Apatow teased that there will be much more fun announcement coming soon.

Ivan Reitman Talks About Ghostbusters III

CinemaBlend recently spoke with director Ivan Reitman on all the rumors regarding Ghostbusters 3. Over the last 2 years there has been a lot of misinformation regarding the project.  A lot of that misinformation can be attributed to Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray.

Reitman tells CinemaBlend:

Virtually everything you’ve read on the internet [about Ghostbusters III] is not accurate.

There have been reports that Ghostbusters 3 will start shooting as early as this May.  Reitman says that the film still needs to be casted but they

have some actors who seem to be interested in doing it, a ton of interest in the film.

Reitman also told CinemaBlend that the script was just finished last month and needs to be given to Murray for notes and approval.

Reitman also spoke to Comingsoon.net about the rumored idea that Dana and Peter’s son be leading the Ghostbusters and Murray appearing as a Ghost:

Oh, no, yeah… I mean, Sigourney Weaver has a role in this movie. All the original characters have parts. As well as a whole bunch of new characters… it’s got a really good story, this one. Maybe the best of the whole series. I hope we get to do it.

It’s amazing that over 20 years ago Ghostbusters II came out and people are still clamoring for another film.  I don’t understand why they have waited so long for the next one.  In a day where people dread at times hearing about sequels there is a lot of demand for Ghostbusters III.  Hopefully now that a script is complete the film will be made.  We’ve waited long enough!

Armie Hammer Talks Hoover

Armie Hammer who played the Winklevoss twins in the Social Network recently sat down for an interview with Vulture regarding Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar, the film about J. Edgar Hoover.

Hammer will star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio as Clyde Tolson, Hoover’s often rumored lover.  Hammer revealed some details about the project:

  • Tolson (Hammer) and Hoover (DiCaprio) will share an onscreen kiss.
  • Hammer is excited with the recent addition of Judi Dench to the cast. She will be playing Hoover’s mother.
  • Hammer revealed that the script features Tolson in his late 70’s and that Hammer will play the older version.

The project sounds interesting.  Hoover is one of this country’s most fascinating people, at least in my opinion.  Clint Eastwood has been preparing this project for a while and Eastwood hardly ever disappoints.  He’s casted  a group of talented actors and there are rumors that Charlize Theron will soon be added to the cast.
