Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Still Happening

Paramount Pictures is not giving up on their plans to make a film about Robert LeRoy Ripley, the once cartoonist turned anthropologist.  Eric Roth (Forrest Gump) has been hired to write the film.

In 2007 the film had been greenlit for Tim Burton to direct and Jim Carrey to star as Robert Ripley. Reportedly Carrey had made some suggestions on changing the movie to Burton, Burton loved the ideas and planned to put them into the film which in turn stalled production. Burton would eventually leave to go shoot Sweeney Todd, forcing Paramount to cancel the film just a week before production was scheduled to begin.

Deadline reports that Jim Carrey is still set to star as Ripley but Burton will most likely not direct.
