Pirates 5 Writer Hired And Rob Marshall To Direct

Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides does not come out until May but Disney is already planning for the 5th film in the fun and profitable franchise.

Deadline reports that Disney has just reached a deal with writer Terry Rossio, co-writer of the original trilogy as well as On Stranger Tides to begin writing the 5th film of the franchise. Rossio will be for the first time writing a Pirates Of The Caribbean film by himself as co-writer Ted Elliot will not be returning to the franchise.

There are also reports that Disney liked working with Rob Marshall who directed On Stranger Tides and are trying to bring him back for Pirates 5.

I think this is a great sign that Disney is happy with On Stranger Tides as they wouldn’t be looking to bring back the writer and director if the film was awful.

Unfortunately there is no word on whether or not Johnny Depp is willing to do a 5th film and there is no Pirates Of The Caribbean without Captain Jack Sparrow. The good news is that Depp is not opposed to doing another Pirates film. Speaking to EW recently Depp said:

As long as we can put all the puzzle pieces together, I would most definitely consider it.

It’s interesting to note that originally the 5th and 6th films of the Pirates Of The Caribbean series were supposed to be shot back to back but right now there is no word if that still going to happen or not.
